A/Prof. Gray Rybka (U. of Washington)

Assistant Professor Gray Rybka is an experimental physicist whose research focuses on fundamental questions pertaining to the hard-to-detect phenomena of dark matter and neutrino interactions. In particular, he is a leading researcher in the area of axion direct-detection searches.

He will work with the Centre’s researchers within the (direct detection) axion detection program, most specifically at the Centre’s UWA node. This synergy between the Centre and Assistant Professor Rybka will be of particular benefit to the progress of the ORGAN experiment at UWA, and also will assist other axion haloscope-based experiments at other locations.

Having direct involvement with undergraduate students at the University of Washington, he brings considerable experience in outreach and mentoring to such early-study students, and also to research students at a more advanced level.
