Professor Cedric Simenel

Professor Cedric Simenel is an internationally recognised leader in quantum many-body approaches to describe low-energy nuclear dynamics. Whilst a theorist, he works closely with experimentalists in order to provide a strong synergy between these two aspects of nuclear physics.

As Head of the Department of Theoretical Physics at the ANU, he has a vision to expand the Department and in particular to reinforce collaborations with experimental groups, including in the field of dark matter research.

Within the Centre, Professor Simenel will bring his expertise in low-energy nuclear dynamics to investigate the response of the nucleus excited by an interaction with a dark matter particle, via the use of numerical codes in simulating nuclear dynamics; he will bring also his strong involvement in student supervision and early-career-researcher mentoring to the Centre.
